I just came across an article working to lure in small business customers that may be having challenges getting the most value out of NetSuite. While the article correctly shared that NetSuite can open great advantages to business owners because of its fully integrated nature, they reference an article about some of NetSuite’s challenges that is now 4 years old. They used this position to make an alternative solution which ultimately means leave NetSuite. In my mind, this article is a method to get the search engines to rank but there is little substance.
Indeed, NetSuite made a decision to move “up-market” nearly four years ago. And it was a very smart move. When I speak with prospective clients, I share that the platform makes a lot of sense if you are committed to operational excellence. For example, see my article, Four Questions to Ask if your Business is Ready for Advanced Growth with NetSuite to learn about the customer profile and business situations that indicate high success likelihood.
Unless you are in an industry NetSuite does not serve, if you are a customer that is not having a good NetSuite experience, then I suspect it has very much something to do with your implementation or ongoing support. We have helped a number of existing NetSuite customers extract the promised value out of the platform. To get value, you must have strong analytical capacities, a deep understanding of the NetSuite product and platform, the ability to innovate so you can adapt NetSuite to your business requirements, and leadership to help others modify current practices to better fit the business situation and the way tools work.
Leaving any platform is a major endeavor. Think hard before giving up. Let’s talk.
I think you’re right on how it was a really wise decision for NetSuite to make the “up-market” shift about four years ago. Anyway, my boss is genuinely thrilled about getting NetSuite support for our clinic. She’s been raving about how it’s going to streamline everything – from patient records to appointments – and you can see the excitement in her eyes about making the whole operation run like a well-oiled machine.
Hello Lynn,
That’s a nice comment. Thank you. Yet it was valid in 2012. Now, Oracle has gone the opposite direction. This has created both challenges and opportunities.
