According the South China Morning Post today, NetSuite sees expansion into China as a result of its new “Commerce as a Service” initiative.
Indeed. We are pursuing opportunities to bring US retailers into the Chinese markets. See recent article here. One of the challenges has been the payment gateway offered by NetSuite. China doesn’t work with the traditional payment gateways we are used to working with in Western world.
Instead, with the new SuiteScript Server Pages, we see an opportunity to swap out the default payment gateway while producing a seamless retail experience. While I think the analogy of hooking up to PayPal is a mental model, I suspect there are better ways. We are pushing on the question because there may be ways to hook up non-conventional currencies, such as Bitcoin. See recent article here.
Our plan is to produce a reference site that demonstrates the power of the platform while we solve for payment considerations in the China market. Once we do, we will update this article.
Do you have examples of China eCommerce built on NetSuite we can reference?
