This article is meaningful if you would like to have an easier way to select relevant contacts in NetSuite’s Email Composer form.
Background
NetSuite’s email composer form is a standard webpage popup that is used to produce user-generated outbound email messages. There are times that we need to get more control over the way the message is crafted.
For example, in my 2020 article I dicuss how to Get Control over NetSuite’s Email Reply-To Address. In another 2016 article, I discuss how to automatically add an attachment to the email message.
For a client with a strong dropship business model, they needed to conduct communications between their customers and their dropship suppliers. Thus, the interaction between these parties meant that it is was important to have all the email addresses who were parties to the dropship order be handy.

Since the client needed to quickly see all the relevant parties related to the dropship, we modified the email composer to lookup the customer contacts AND the respective vendor contacts that are supplying the goods. Thus, it became easy for our client’s customer support representative to quickly produce communications between parties during order status and warranty issue resolution.
Instead of a dropdown, we draw an easy-to-see table of all contacts categorized by the customer or vendor.
