- The Outlook 1.0 client is still supported. But it does not support contact uploads to NetSuite according to NetSuite support. It appears that would require the intellisync client.
- Instead of going the way of intellisync, I am trying the Outlook 2.0 beta as it looks promising. It appears to support two-way synchronization.
- I installed the client in Windows 2003 Server with Outlook 2003 SP2. The installation warned that only XP and Vista are supported. But I pushed through anyways as it should work okay. I have no other issues with Outlook add-in software on Windows Server 2003.
- I was concerned about performance as I noticed a number of posts about it. However, I am not really experiencing that problem at all. Sure, the installation was slow; but once it was installed, no noticeable issues.
- I am now experiencing a number of issues once I got the client installed. The contact form is not painting correctly. See attached image.
- The link of an Outlook Contact to a NetSuite customer record does not bring up any records. It’s always blank for me.
- I can’t seem to get contacts to synchronize the way I want. It’s intermittent and appears haphazard. I speculate there could be something to do with data in my Outlook record as I browsed the sync log and saw some issues.
- I am getting duplicate events (birthdays and anniversaries) when I change a contact record “private” flag to on/off on a shared contact. I can turn off this replication area as it is not something I need at this point.
I know this is beta software. I have filed a support request and we will see how it goes.
Updates
I just provided updates to this entry as there is reasonable explanation about some of the items above.
